Getting Started on Classic EverQuest with a Twist server

CLIENT FILES
WARNING: MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CLIENT BEFORE COPYING THIS OVER! IT MAY MAKE IT INCOMPATIBLE WITH OTHER EQEMU SERVERS!
REQUIRED CLIENT VERSION: RoF2 (Check out the EZ Server Getting Started page for more information on this client version).

To get your client working for Classic EverQuest with a Twist you'll need to do the following:

1.Copy the files in the file labeled, "Copy these into the client folder" into the main client folder.
2.Move the following files into the "backup" folder in your client folder:
Essential: Must move these files over for the client to be compatible.
a. nektulos.eqg (forces client to use classic Nektulos zone model.)
b. lavastorm.eqg (forces client to use classic Lavastorm zone model.)
c. arena.eqg (forces client to use classic Arena zone model.)
d. global6_chr.s3d (forces client to use classic skeleton, wolf and tiger models. If this step is skipped skeletons will look all kinds of wonky.)
Optional:
a. combattheme1.mp3 (forces client to use classic combat music.)
b. combattheme2.mp3 (forces client to use classic combat music.)
c. eqtheme.mp3 (forces client to use classic theme music.)
d. equipment-01.eqg (forces the client to use the classic weapon models.)
Why it's important to update your files often:

When the client stops to load after selecting a server, it is loading the global models such as the playable races, weapons, etc. The updated globalload.txt and globalload_chr.txt tells the client which models to load. If they're not update it won't load the correct models and you'll be seeing a lot of naked human butts.
When the client stops to load while zoning, it's loading the models needed for the zone. That's objects, the zone its self and of course the NPC models. If you don't update, much like with the global models, you'll be seeing lots of naked human butt.

gequip5.s3d
This is all of the Planes of Power weapons. One of them used the Luclin skeleton models and therefore created a texture conflict with the classic skeleton textures. I had to do some surgery on this file to get the classic skeleton textures to display correctly. The item will no longer look correct. Fancy programming you did there, Sony Online Entertainment.
dbstr_us.txt
This file holds all of the information for spells and much of the UI information. You know the infomation you see about races, classes, deities, etc when creating a character? It's all contained here. For custom spells to display correctly, this will need to be up to date.
spell_us.txt
While all of the information contained in this file is also in the database, it needs to be up to date for the new spells to work correctly.
eqclient.ini
This is the file that tells the client to load the classic race/elemental models as well as the special Velious armor textures that only work with the classic models. You'll notice if you turn on the Luclin models and copy the files over it'll activate the classic models. This is why. I highly recommend using the classic models. Mounts will not exist on this server. Not even for Vah Shir and Froglok so feel free to leave the new elemental/horse models off.
Maps
While I'm updating very few maps, as to allow for discovery, a few I want to make sure you have.
More Information
There is no more Lost Dungeons of Norrath camps. The adventure system has been removed completely.
Exploring your favorite zones will yield new adventures. Don't remember that tower being there? Why is there a new fort here? Is that a treasure chest? It's new, you'll see why, and yes it is. This is precisely why MacroQuest is not allowed on Classic EverQuest with a Twist.
Don't feel like if you make the mistake once you'll be banned. We'll be here to remind you (yes, we can track it). However, if the problem persists we may need to re-evaluate if having your presence on our server is fair to the other players.
